Hello all!

Internet has returned, at least for now, so I thought I'd take this time to just tell you basically what the heck I do all day. I've got some free time, and some internet so here goes.

My butt gets out of bed between 630 and 7 every morning depening on how loud the construction workers are and how late I went to bed the night before. The construction is getting better, but it's still really noisy throughout most of the day. The workers will be around for another week and a half, so they're trying to get everything done before then.

Breakfast is at 7. It's not mandatory, but we mostly all go because we're always hungry. You work up such an appetite here, missing meals is nearly unheard of. Breakfast usually consists of eggs in some form or another, breakfast meat and sometimes bagels/toast. We learned today, however that we are OUT of bagels and toast....haha so we'll see what happens with breakfast tomorrow.

We have a morning meeting at 750 that is mandatory. Our Student Affairs Manager, Kate, goes over our schedule for the day, the weather, tides and we have announcements and then we have some kind of game or activity, which are usually chaotic and a lot of fun.

Classes start whenever the morning meeting ends, around 810 or 815 and usually go until 1220, with 5 minute breaks every hour. Some days (like yesterday) we'll have 4 hours of one class, and other days we'll have each class. (I'm taking Environmental Policy and Socio-economics, Marine Resource Mangagement and Tropical Marine Ecology, by the way).

Lunch is at 1230.

After lunch, we usually have some kind of field activity. This week we've been doing mangrove and seagrass ID sessions to prepare us for our exam tomorrow. We were supposed to have our first non-academic snorkel today, but the water is too rough, so we're going on a more exended tour of town (hopefully I'll have some new cool pictures to show you).

There's usually time between our afternoon activity and dinner, which gives us time to catch up on homework, study, sleep, read...whatever we want. Dinner is at 630, but we're all so hungry by then we usually start swarming around the dining area at 6. Sometimes we have stuff after dinner, like a workshop or an activity, but not always.

The only differences in the schedule are Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Wednesday we have the mornings free to do unstructured community outreach or we can just use the time for ourselves (we didnt have that today because the schools on the island didnt give us their schedules yet, so we had a Fish Population Dynamics workshop instead...) and wednesday afternoons we have non-academic waterfront activities (cancelled today). Saturdays we have a site clean-up in the morning and structured community outreach (swimming lessons, english as a second language, sports clubs for the kids, etc). Sunday is our day off.

So we're pretty busy all the time, but its so much fun and so amazing. The people are great, staff, students, and locals. We went to Trench Town, one of the bars, Monday night for one of my classmates birthday and got salsa lessons from the locals. It was so much fun! Haha.

Hopefully there will be more pictures and posts to come! Love y'all!
